Flashback Friday- May 6

I'm linking up to Flashback Friday hosted by Christopher and Tia! This is my first time posting to this, but I can see it becoming a favorite. Here we share a photo from times past. I LOVE an excuse to dig into the photo album!

This is Amber, my youngest daughter, when she was 3 years old. Andrea was at school, and we went to the story time at the library. After story time I think we spent another hour at the library. She loved to sit and "read." I would, of course, read with her at home, but she liked how independent she could be at the library. She could choose any book and look at it for as long as she liked. She didn't have to share the book, or the attention, with her sister. I loved this time, too. It was a way of sharing my love of reading and spending a little extra time with my little girl before she also headed to school. Ah, I wish getting Amber to read every day was still this easy!

My son LOVES the local library. We could spend all day every day there and he'd be happy! That's a great memory and awesome shot of her! :-)

Katie, I think reading is one of the best activities for children. If you can spend all day at the library, don't hesitate to! Thanks for stopping by!

Honeybee, if she is looking at the pictures and telling a story based on those, she is "reading." She just doesn't know it. That is the very beginning steps of reading. Give her lots of opportunities to do just that, and before long she'll be on her way!

:) I love seeing little one's read. We have a pretty large library at home. I have a hard time giving books back to libraries so I try to avoid bringing them home! LOL! :) We do go to story time and things at the library some though.

We've always had a big library at home, too. The girls each had a bookshelf in their bedrooms, and they had one at my mom and dad's house. As the girls have grown, each of the bookshelves have evolved. It was REALLY hard to say goodbye to some of those books!
