Review/ Giveaway: "Treading Lightly" Kindle edition

I was recently given the opportunity to read and review "Treading Lightly," written by a fellow blogger, L. Taylor. Wow, I am REALLY glad I took the time to read this book! This is a story that will leave the reader feeling at times happy, sad, and just about every other emotion a parent can feel.

"Treading Lightly" is the story of one couple and their daughter who was born with Down's Syndrome. We all hope and pray for that perfect baby to be born, but what happens when the news is not what we expected? Ms. Taylor writes an honest, open account of her experience- being told that her newborn has Down's Syndrome, then sharing the worries and fears that accompany that news.

This is a perfectly sized book for reading in one sitting and is priced just right, as well. You can purchase a the Kindle edition on Amazon for just $2.99. You don't want to miss this book if you are a parent or a teacher!

I choose to read this book because as a teacher I will have the opportunity to meet a variety of families with special needs. I thought this would be a good chance to get an inside look at the challenges families face from their own perspective. I can't thank Ms. Taylor enough for sharing her experience.

The author of "Treading Lightly" doesn't hold back. She admits that she had hopes and dreams for her little girl that she will never see happen. More importantly, Ms. Taylor lays out her fears for the future. What will happen to Girly Girl? How will her days be spent now that she has graduated from school? These are things I never thought about. The school environment is one of safety and security. Once a student has "outgrown" that space, what comes next? Ms. Taylor may not have the answers, but she presents the questions in a way that will make us all think about special needs children well into their adult years.

Please take a moment to check out "Treading Lightly." You can also learn more about the author, Girly Girl, and their family on Ms. Taylor's blog. I think you will find the writing and attitude of this author to be refreshing and inspiring. Enjoy!

Great news! I just got word that the author will email one lucky winner a copy of the ebook to read!
