One thing I absolutely MUST have every day is some quiet time to myself. This can range anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours, but if I don't get that time I seriously start to feel anxious. Since I am a naturally early riser anyway I make sure to get up before anyone else in the house. This usually gives me an hour to be alone. I don't turn on the radio or the TV.
Since starting to work I have found it more difficult to get the time I need into a day, but I find it even more essential. I have made it a point to head into my bedroom about the same time the girls go to theirs to do their nightly reading. On most nights now I spend this time doing my own reading. Some nights, however, I'm just plain exhausted and watch TV instead.

I excersize in the am, even if for nly 15 minutes... it gives me the me time I need
I have started going to the gym in the morning as well, after I get the two big kids off to school. You can't beat losing weight, feeling better and free child care, all in one package!
Following you from the Thursday Blog Hop, hope you come visit http://surroundedby3pink.blogspot.com.
have a great day!
I agree with that Pink. The gym was a nice get-away when my kids were younger.
I'm the same way Karen, I require quiet time each and every day. Luckily, my schedule right now allows for plenty of it. Maybe too much! But when it doesn't, I have a special chair in the sunroom that I got sit in and read or get on my laptop. I close the sliding glass door for privacy. I gaze outside into the yard and watch the birds in the bird feeder.
My quiet time is when my daughter takes her daily nap. Right now, I am reading books on starting your own business! Hopefully I can do so before the end of the year.
Our kids go to bed at 8:30, no matter what, so hubby and I can have alone time. In the mornings, I am up at 5:00, just to enjoy the silence, read, pray and exercise
My favorite me/quiet time is when I soak in the bath tub or go for a walk with the pooches but without the kids... It is essential!!!
I absolutely need my quiet time - I work out of my home office - the kids are at school - the TV is off - everything that makes background noise is off - I cannot work to music - When the family is home during the week - when it is my "quiet" time I get so off center that I'm not an easy person to be around.. So I totally get your need for this - Following you from Share your post hop!

Plum, that's a great idea to have the kids in bed early. Unfortunately I go to bed about then myself!
Susi, a nice walk is always great for the soul. Dogs just seem to have a different energy than children.
Kelly, my husband thinks I'm nuts. If he and the kids are away from the house, I can go all day- literally ALL day- without turning on TV or radio. He doesn't understand how peaceful that can be!
It's ironic that I should read your post now that I had DEMANDED my quiet time; well today was straight ME time for a few hours. I got my hair and brows done; did some shopping for things needed.
I typically take walks or just let my other son know that I need quiet time when I lay the baby for his nap.
Lea, it sounds like you had some nice, relaxing "me" time. We all need that once in awhile, that's for sure!
Its so hard these days to get quiet time, even while I'm sleeping I usually have a baby attached to my boob. I really do need it sometimes man! Maybe when the kids are older! ;)

Hi Karen, thank you for stopping by my blog, and for your wonderful comments! Don’t be a stranger....come by again!
Quit time for me is a rarity, most especially when our six-year-old is around. However, I’m able to find a little solitude, comfort and a bit of peace and quit in one of our three “reading rooms” (toilets) in our apartment. I know this sounds a little awkward, but it is true. It’s only here that I can find a few minutes to read the morning paper, uninterrupted, and only because I’m able to lock the door!
Not awkward at all Diplo_Daddy. I completely understand. I remember one time my husband went into the "reading room" and didn't come out until three hours later when he had finished the book he had started. We were new parents then, and he just needed time away. We've since learned to communicate better so he will go to the library if that situation ever comes up again!
