K is for Karen

Who is the person behind "Life with Karen?"  Although I have an "All About Me" page I think there is so much more about me that is not included there.  Here are some things I want you to know.

Roles I Play/ Hats I Wear:
mother
wife
daughter
friend
teacher
employee
business owner (though I've really stepped out of this role for the most part)
sister
blogger
pen pal

Hobbies/ Activities I Enjoy:
Reading
Writing
Playing with my girls (board games and Wii lately)
Hanging out with my husband
Blogging (both reading and writing)
Watching my favorite TV shows (Private Practice, Grey's Anatomy, Parenthood, The Middle, Modern
      Family)
Word games

My Favorite Authors:
Debbie Macomber
Jodi Picoult
Karin Slaughter
Harlen Coben

One thing I can say is that I am never bored.  If anything, I don't know how to fit all of my activities into a day, a week, or sometimes even a month!  I am working right now on finding a balance between work and home life.  I love teaching, don't get me wrong, but I want to spend more time with my family and for myself in the evenings than I did the first semester of teaching.  We'll see how that goes this coming semester.

The big change I've made is that I've set aside 30 minutes per night for reading.  I love getting lost in a good book.  I've decided that if one is not catching my attention right away I'm not going to struggle through it.  There are too many I want to read to force myself to finish something.  I might come back to it later, though. Some of the best books I've read I had to start two or three times to find when they were right in my life.

Thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself! I feel like I know you better! ;)

You do juggle a lot. The thirty minute idea is great. Good for the spirit to take that time off for yourself. And I agree with not forcing oneself through a book. It does lose the intended message if we're pushing to finish it.

Anne, I don't always last the 30 minutes, but the idea is there! Last night I think I made it about 15 then I was ready to sleep. The nice thing is that I am ending my night with something productive yet peaceful.
